    Session One

Investigate, explore, and experience a more expansive and easier breath through this session. Your rib cage, back, neck, and pelvis are in a constant relationship with your breath. Address facial connections between the segments of your body, so the constant action of breathing is supported. A free and easily flowing breath is the foundation for all the incredible actions your body can do.

The first session may take up to two hours which includes an intake interview. Sliding Scale $90 - $130 Per Session

Why do Structural Integration?

Get Structural Integration to address a chronic issue, to gain ability, or to make space for a change in your life.

Ida Rolf developed this 10-session series for addressing the relationship of your body to gravity. She believed that when gravity wasn’t tearing people down, it was lifting them up. Human bodies thrive in the gravitational field. The segments of your body can be in balance so that gravity is leveraged and movement is efficient. Sessions address your fascial layers through hands on manipulation while you are paying attention to the signals from your body. Proprioception is embedded in the fascial web, and when we coordinate hands-on myofascial work with awareness, results can be dramatic. It’s possible that the changes and shifts towards alignment and efficient movement could be lasting changes.

Prepare for Structural Integration:

Please commit to your appointment by showing up ready and on time.

Drink plenty of water 1-2 days before your session.  Hydrated connective tissue easily slides and glides for a smoother and more effective session.

Investigate your feels. Survey each toe . . . the top of your foot . . . the bottom of your foot . . . the right side of your ankle joint . . .etc.

Be prepared for questions like:  “What does it feel like to take a deep breath?  (Try that right now.  How full does that feel in your rib cage?  Is it smooth and easy?)

Wash up before your session.  Skip the lotion if it leaves a residue, clean skin is best.

Some clothing is required.  A bra and full coverage underwear, a two piece swimsuit, short athletic shorts, briefs or boxer briefs all work well. A blanket will be available if you get cold.

PS:  If you have concerns about being in your underclothes you aren’t alone.  It is natural to feel awkward being in front of a practitioner while in your knickers.  The uncomfortable feeling may go away while you’re focusing on the session.  There are other options for clothing, so don’t hesitate to reach out.  Talk to Sarah about what’s right for you.

What’s a Structural Integration Session like?

Sarah will want to know your unique needs and preferences.  You’ll investigate your stance and what you notice.  Next, you get on a massage table for hands-on myofascial work.  Communicate about your sensations throughout the session.  Expect to be comfortable with an easy breath flowing.  And, expect to be challenged.  You’ll be asked to isolate movements of your bones while Sarah contacts layers of your myofascial tissue.  Pressure is adjusted based on your sensation.  Some hands-on myofascial work may be done with you sitting and/or standing.  The session ends with you and Sarah investigating how your stance feels and looks at the very end.  Each session should prepare you to get out in the world with ease and greater ability to do what you do.
